MANUFACTURING SUPERVISOR – JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Listen is seeking a driven and deadline focused leader for our small manufacturing team in Boston. This position is responsible for managing the assembly area and ensuring that all sales orders are fulfilled according to delivery schedules. This includes mechanical and electronic assembly, troubleshooting and repair of electronic products, ordering products and components for product assembly, packing and shipping products, maintaining inventories of components and finished goods, receiving and checking incoming goods, maintaining a safe, organized and clean work environment, documenting manufacturing procedures, training and supervising other workers to ensure that and all procedures are correctly followed. This is a job which requires working closely with our sales and admin teams to plan for future demand and prioritize workload to meet customer need, so the ability to work well with other functions within the company is also important.

Duties & Responsibilities

 

Manufacturing:

  • Build stock to maintain inventory levels of finished goods
  • Work with sales and support to define appropriate inventory levels for stock.
  • Take physical inventory on weekly basis and provide to management
  • Check with Sales on ongoing basis for in-house and pending order needs
  • Order 3rd party hardware to maintain stock levels.
  • Maintain appropriate materials, components and parts levels for building Listen Hardware.
  • Test, calibrate, and repair Listen hardware and some 3rd party hardware.

Repair:

  • Troubleshoot and repair all Listen branded hardware, both returned product and product that failed in-house QC
  • Liaise with appropriate supplier for the repair/replacement of 3rd party hardware
  • Documentation of all customer returns for repair

Order Fulfillment:

  • Liaise with Management, Sales and Support to ensure all product ships on time and that any manufacturing delays are communicated in a timely manner.
  • Schedule and supervise order fulfillment to ensure completion by shipping due date
  • Maintain and update inventory in QuickBooks.

Shipping & Receiving

  • Schedule and supervise shipping of outgoing orders
  • Maintain inventory of shipping items:  boxes, packing materials, bags, labels, etc.
  • Ensure all incoming boxes are unpacked on a timely basis

Inventory Purchasing

  • Determine order points for assembly parts, OEM inventory and accessories
  • Create and submit  inventory purchase orders
  • Update and maintain physical inventory

General Supervision

  • Review and approve manufacturing staff timesheets
  • Maintain a safe, clean and tidy workroom and shipping/receiving area
  • Document manufacturing procedures
  • Determine duties and schedules, and supervise manufacturing staff to achieve manufacturing goals

 

Desired skills / education

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, or an Associates degree plus minimum 2 years experience.
  • Min 2 years experience in:
  • reading wiring diagrams
  • using standard electronic bench equipment, i.e.: Multimeter, Oscilloscope, etc.
  • mechanical assembly including using bench-mounted tools and simple hand tools.
  • soldering through hole components. Surface mount soldering a plus
  • Driven and deadline-focused; able to schedule resources to meet deadlines
  • Works well in a small team
  • Clear writing style for documenting procedures
  • Experience with troubleshooting, debugging, and reworking electronics is an advantage
  • Previous experience or an interest in acoustics / sound engineering is an advantage.

 

 

Physical Demands

  • Lift boxes weighing up to 30lbs (a few times a week)
